Walking Tours of Campus

As part of the Year of Reconciliation (2000-2001), the Ad Hoc Committee put together a Self-Guided Walking Tour of campus. [See also Peggy Barlett's article The Emory University campus walking tour: awakening a sense of place in Vol. 3 No. 2, 2002, of the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education. Other Tours

On April 21, 2002, Professor Bill Murdy led a botanical tour along both sides of Peavine Creek, the western boundary of Emory campus.

On November 12, 1999 Professors Bill Murdy, John Wegner, and JoAn Chace and DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation Commissioner Dell MacGregor led participants on a tour of Baker Woods and other areas in the western (Peavine Creek) watershed of campus.

On January 17, 2000 Professors Bill Murdy and Eloise Carter led a tour of Hahn Woods and Wesley Woods in the eastern (Candler Lake) watershed of campus.

On April 1, 2000 Professor Bill Murdy led a tour of the forest ravine between Peachtree Creek and the Houston Mill House.

On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 15, 2001 at 2-4 p.m. Professor Bill Murdy lead a tour of the natural area at the northern end of Peavine Creek Drive. Meet in front of Asbury House.

On Sunday, January 28, 2001, 2-4 p.m., on the heels of the Reconcilium Symposium, people were invited to follow the walking tour together as a group.
